Hello! I've added a new Interpretations 'page' at the top of this blog, and thought I would use it as a post to talk to you personally more about when and where my dreams started, why we have them, and what God wants us to do with them.
Love you much, Rebecca :)
I'm sure many of you are wondering where I get my interpretations of dreams and how this all started. Well, to be honest with you, this has been a continual learning adventure as I've walked alongside my Father.
The first time I knew a dream was from the Lord, was when I couldn't shake it. It kept replaying in my mind the next day, and then weeks, and months, until I started to ask Him about it.
In my beginning walk as a Christian, I struggled with sin...for years. I wouldn't release it's grip on me. That's right, 'I' wouldn't release it.
And I'd be under guilt and condemnation for most of my beginning relationship with the Lord (not knowing that condemnation came from the enemy, and not my Lord...as His is SWEET conviction that leads to a truly repentent heart that would CHOOSE to refuse sin). But, thankfully, the Lord, by His grace and mercy, chose not to allow me to be under this deception of lies, and started speaking to me and revealing things to me about my personal life and struggles, and WHERE the roots of deception were coming from, that were holding on to me. Strong holds.
By His revealing the plans of the enemy to me in my life, I was introduced to the 'war' we are in...the constant battle over our souls, and that the enemy 'would deceive even God's elect' if he could. That moment of awakening in my Christian walk...was my first step into spiritual warfare that I was finally aware of. I had no idea what 'spiritual warfare' was at the time, but found myself in constant battle of dreams in those beginning years with demons flying at me constantly throughout the night.
The Lord showed me 'how' to battle through prayer. I'm still learning.
But back to the premise of these dreams. The dreams revealed my areas of bondage, that allowed me to pray through them, to ask the Lord to help in these 'specifics,' and over the years, to become truly FREE from them.
So, first of all, if you're having dreams or visions that you feel the Lord is trying to tell you something about(whether it's for your past (needed healing, needed repentance, needed revelation of roots), present (direction to take, revelation of your current relationship with Christ, processing), or future (preparation of things to come, warnings, prayer for))....ask Him. As HE is the revealer and interpreter of ALL things...as He created ALL things, and He, by His grace, mercy, and LOVE for us, will speak directly to your spirit about them.
Along the years, I've come across some useful sources from other Christians with these specific giftings, and I've used them at times to see if they helped in giving a clearer understanding. At times, they do. At others, they don't. So I take what resounds with the Holy Spirit in me, and toss out what doesn't...make sure you are always asking the Lord to filter anything you are reading or taking in as TRUTH. Even from fellow Christian brothers and sisters words and giftings (regardless of their position in the church), as there are wolves among the flock... as Acts 20:29 mentions, "I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock."
On another note...make sure YOU aren't just tossing away prayers/words, etc., from another fellow believer because they don't resound with YOUR FLESH. Always receive humbly and with a heart ready to respond and receive, and allow the Lord to filter truth to you, through His WORD and through His SPIRIT in you.
The resources I've come across over the past couple of yrs that I use at times to come alongside my interpretations are;
1.) John Paul Jackson's at www.streamsministries.com and,
2.) Ed Traut's at www.propheticlife.com
I've chosen to use these sources because the interpretations they use are biblically derived.
WARNING: Do not use interpretations from things of this world, including people, other religions, and human thought. In the prophetic gifting realm (especially this generation), you must be on high alert and sensitive to anything New Aged based. I only emphasise this religion in particular, as this is the most current religion within our generation that I've seen even followers of Christ get entangled amongst, as they step out into more things of the Holy Spirit (being led by the Spirit, discerning, attempting to interpret dreams and visions in these End Times). Because New Age is highly focused on things of the spirit (the enemy once again, coming alongside of God, and trying to 'BE LIKE GOD' by copying these giftings), many Christians have stumbled in discerning truth in this arena. There IS most probably spirit in all other religions-it's just not God's Holy Spirit. Therefor the spirit received outside of God's, is the enemies and demonic...full of deception and lies. So always be on alert, and make sure any interpretation is in line with God's Holy Word & His character, which is the Word of God, the Bible.
1 Corinthians 12
Spiritual Gifts
Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
